Anybots QB Robot

The QB Robot is a telepresence robot which is operated directly through a web browser. It allows the user to interact with people and environments to replicate a person’s physical presence. Once logged in via a web browser, all that is required to move the robot is the directional arrow keys on the keyboard. This means that the user does not require any software or any special controllers to operate the robot. This is beneficial because it allows the QB robot to be accessed and controlled by anyone. A business can therefore request any of their clients to dial in from anywhere around the world for a face to face meeting, or even a walkthrough of a facility.

 

The QB Robot incorporates an Intel Core 2 Duo processor and supports 3G networks. Its neck can extend from three feet to five feet and nine inches. Its top speed of 3.5 mph and self-balancing system make it very versatile yet simple to use. 

 

The QB operates in a very similar manner to a Segway. It has two large wheels on either side of it that are manipulated by the self-balancing system in order to keep it upright. People can interact with the robot through the use of two cameras.  One camera is primarily used for obstacle avoidance and the second camera is used to transfer the image of what the robot sees to the person who dials in. The screen on top of the robot is able to transmit a video feed of the person who dials in and allows each party to be visible during a meeting.
